WHEREAS, Josh Earley developed a passion for firefighting early in life <br />and began his firefighting career while is high school, serving as a junior <br />firefighter with the Harrisburg Volunteer Fire Department; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Josh Earley achieved his career goal as a professional <br />firefighter when he became a full-time fireman with the Charlotte Fire <br />Department, working at Station 27 on US Highway 29 and responding to fire and <br />medical emergencies at UNO Charlotte, University Hospital and area businesses <br />and homes; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Josh Earley loved his work as a fireman and, on his days off <br />from his regular employment, continued to serve the community by working <br />part-time with Harrisburg Fire and Rescue; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Josh garley epitomized the highest principles and values <br />expected of a firefighter and selflessly and tirelessly devoted himself to <br />his duties, justly earning the respect, admiration and high regard of his <br />fellow firefighters as well as all with whom he came into contact. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners honors the memory of <br /> <br />JOSHUA B. EARLEY <br /> <br />and expresses the gratitude and appreciation of this County and its citizens <br />for the life and service of this dedicated firefighter who made the ultimate <br />sacrifice in responding to the need of others. <br /> <br />Adopted =his the 15~ day of April, 2002. <br /> <br /> /s/ Robert M. Freeman, Chairman <br /> Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners <br /> <br />Reco~nition of Hon Harwood, ~MS Director, on his Retirement <br /> <br /> Mr. John Day, Deputy County Manager for Operations, recognized Mr. Ron <br />Harwood, who will retire as Director of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) on <br />April 30, 2002. Mr. Harwood began work with the Cabarrus County Ambulance <br />Service in 1973 and assumed the position of EMS Director in 1996. <br /> <br /> Mr. Mark Redo, Director of the Emergency Care Center at NorthEast <br />Medical Center (NEMC), presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Mr. Harwood <br />for his service to the community. <br /> <br /> On behalf of the Board, Commissioner Privette presented a plaque to Mr. <br />Harwood in appreciation for his service to CabarrUs County and its citizens. <br /> <br /> The Board congratulated Mr. Harwood o~ his retirement and extended best <br />wishes for the future. <br /> <br />Proclamation - Emergency Medical Services Week (May 19 - 29, 2002) <br /> <br /> Vice Chairman Carruth read a Proclamation designating May 19-25, 2002 <br />as Emergency Medical Services Week in Cabarrus County. <br /> <br /> U~ON MOTION of Vice Chairman Carruth, seconded by Commissioner Suggs <br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following Proclamation. <br /> <br />Resolution No. 2002-11 <br /> <br />PROCnAMAT ION <br /> <br />Emergency Medical Services personnel provide essential lifesaving <br />medical care to the citizens of Cabarrus County in need 24 hours <br />a day, seven days a week; and <br /> <br />several hundred paramedics, emergency medical technicians, <br />firefighters, first responders, emergency room physicians and <br />nurses are involved in providing emergency care around the clock; <br />and <br /> <br />a large number of these individuals unselfishly volunteer their <br />time to provide this valuable service; and <br /> <br /> <br />
