According to Mr. Bennett, the State froze the
merits for non-certified employees in the late 1980's and will no longer
experience rate them. Further, Mr. Bennett explained that action by the
State would be required to change or improve the salary situation.

Chairman Fennel advised the school bus drivers present for the meeting
that the Board supported their concerns but could take no action at the local
level to correct the situation. However, the Board did agree for the
Chairman to send a letter to the Governor and State legislators, including
the local legislative delegation and Chairs of the House and Senate
Appropriations Commit=ees, asking that they consider this issue during the
preparation and deliberation of the State budget this spring. A copy of Ms.
Higgins' letter will be included with the correspondence to State officials.

OLD BUSINESS

Response to Request bv M. C.
