Section 3 <br />Meeting The Waste Reduction Goals <br /> <br />This plan is designed, based on the FY 1998-99 per capita disposal rate of 1.14, to <br />reduce Cabarrus County's waste by 7,405 tons in FY 2000-01, 8,036 tons in FY 2005-06, <br />and 8,648 tons in FY 2009-10 (see Table 7). Several methods to achieve this goal are <br />being assessed for their ability to provide greater means, convenience, and <br />accessibility for recycling. The non.residential waste generators (commercial, <br />industrial and institutional sources) are encouraged to minimize waste production <br />and may adhere to internal guidelines and policies. Yet the goal of 5% waste <br />reduction lies primarily in the expansion of recycling options and collection facilities. <br /> <br /> <br />
