He expressed pleasure with workinG with the current Board <br />members and offered words of encouragement to the new Board members as they <br />begin =heir work to meet the challenges facing Cabs=rue County. Commissioner <br />Barnhar= then offered his resignation as a member of the Board. <br /> <br /> UPON MOT/ON of Chairman Fennel, seconded by Commissioner Privates with <br />Chairman Fennel and Commissioners Privates, Carpenter and Casper voting for, <br />the Board accepted Commissioner Barnhart's resignation from ~he Board of <br />County ConUnissioners. <br /> <br /> Board members ex=ended best wishes =o Mr. Barnhart .as he begins work es <br />a member of the North Carolina F~use of Representatives. <br /> <br /> Mr. David Black, Chairman of the Cabs==us County Republican Party, <br />preset=ed =he reconvnendation by the Executive Board o~ the Republican Par~y <br />for the appointment of Robert M. Freeman to =he County Co~mission to fill the <br />vacancy created by the resignation of Jeff Barnhart from the Board of <br />Commissioners. The letter of recommendation from the Executive Board was <br />included in the Age,da package and was effective upon the resignation of Mr. <br />Barnhart. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Ferule1, seconded by Commissioner Casper with <br />~-~{Tman Fennel and COU~issioners Casper, Carpenter and Privates voting for, <br />the Board appointed Robsr~ M. Freeman to the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners =o fill the vacated position of Jeff Bar~-~c for the remaining <br />=wa years of =he term of office. <br /> <br /> Chairman Fenael opened the recogn£tton ceremony to honor the departin~ <br /> <br /> Mr. Hat=sell read a list of highitghts of activities and <br />accomplishments of the Board of Commissioners since 1990. These included, <br /> <br />commissioners for =heir service to cabs=rue County. <br /> <br /> Chairman Fennel presented a pla~e and red roses Co Comm~ssioner Casper <br />in appreciation £or her eight years (1992-2~00) of service as a member of the <br />Board, including service as Chairman of the Board for the period 1996-98. <br /> <br />durtn~ her terms of office and e~presssd appreciation to County staff for <br />their work. <br /> <br /> Chairman Fennel presented a plaque and red roses Co Co~miseioner <br />Carpenter in appreciation for her four years (1996-2000) of service on =he <br />Board, including service as Vice Chairman for the period 1996-98 and 1999- <br />2000. He pointed au= tha= she had pr~viou$1y served ~n the Board of <br />Co~aissioners from 1990 to 1994. <br /> <br /> <br />
