If convenient public transportation were available, would you use it to travel to:

Medical 18 10%
Work 60 34 %
School I < 1%
Recreation 20 12 %
Shop 29 16 %

The total response of 191 is indicative of some multiple responses consistent with the question
that evokes a range of choices for various trip purposes. Thirty-four percent of the surveyed
workers indicated they would use transit if convenient service were available. If this were
reflective of a larger base of employees in the potential service area, that would represent a
major base of support for new transit service. Work trips were followed in order by shopping
(16%), recreation (12%), and medical trips (10%). Assuming the 30% non-response to this
question is indicative of those who would not use the service even if it were convenient, the
majority of surveyed employees are indeed open to the use of convenient transit service.

Do you currently use the transportation service now being provided by the Department of
Social Services or the Department of Aging?

No 171 95%
Yes 3 2 %
(blank) 6 3 %
180

Almost all of the surveyed employees (at least 95 %) are non-users of Social Services/DOA
provided transportation. This is generally consistent with the profile to be expected for those
permanently employed.

How often?

Of the four surveyed employees that do use social service agency transportation, only two use
those services two or more times a week.

Do you commute to a job or other activities outside of the immediate area and would you
use public transportation to commute there?

Concord Mills/Speedway 5 2 %

Gannett Fleming
ENGINEERS AND PLANNERS
