We will ask churches <br /> to "adopt" individuals on a one-on-one basis to provide specific <br /> needs. <br />2. Business Associations, i.e. Chamber of Commerce: This group <br /> will be invaluable in being a vehicle to infottn and encourage local <br /> businesses to support Work First and hire welfare recipients. <br /> Presentations will be necessary to accomplish this. These <br /> presentations will cover tax incentives to employers for hiring <br /> WFFA clients and the WOW Grant Diversion process. <br />3. Cooperative Christian Ministry, Salvation A~my: These <br /> benevolent organizations can be used as a resource to assist clients <br /> in a crisis situation or as a resource for diversion assistance. <br />4. Workforce Development Board: With the federal Welfare to <br /> Work money, the WDB can be utilized as a source for new <br /> programs for enhancing job skills and help!ng with cost of short <br /> term training. <br /> Process: Cabarrus County will follow the State.appeals process. <br /> <br />VIII. Eligibility Criteria: Cabarrus County will follow Work First <br /> eligibility criteria for standard counties. <br /> <br />IX. Emergency Assistance to Families: Emergency Assistance for FY's <br /> 1998-2000 will be in the amount of $208,870.00, using the November, <br /> 1997 budget estimates. It will be used as follows: <br /> 1. There must be a minor child (define age) in the home who lives <br /> with a relative (define degree of relationship). The definition of <br /> age and kinship will be the same in the new EA Program as it was <br /> in the prior EA Program. <br /> 2. Assistance may not be provided for any medical care, regardless <br /> of whether the client is covered by medicaid. <br /> 3. Assistance must be provided only on a once a year basis so that <br /> the time clock is not triggered and the family is not subject to <br /> work requirements or considered in the work participation rate. <br /> 4. $300.00 maximum benefit per year/per family. <br /> <br /> <br />
