§ 14-4. Violation of local ordinances misdemeanor.
<br /> (a) Except as provided in subsection (b), if any person shall
<br />violate an ordinance of a county, city, town, or metropolitan sewer-
<br />age district created under Article 5 of Chapter 162A, he shall be
<br />guilty of a Class 3 misdemeanor and shall be fined not more than
<br />five hundred dollars ($500.00). No fine shall exceed fifty dollars
<br />($50.00) unless the ordinance expressly states that the maximum
<br />fine is greater than fifty dollars ($50.00).
<br /> (b) If any person shall violate an ordinance of a county, city, or
<br />town regulating the operation or parking of vehicles, he shall be
<br />responsible for an infraction and shall be required to pay a penalty

<br />Session, c. 24, s. 14(b), provides: "This
<br />act becomes effective October 1, 1994,
<br />and applies only to offenses occurring on
<br />or after that date. Prosecutions for, or
<br />sentences based on, offenses occurring
<br />before the effective date of this act are
<br />not abated or affected by the repeal or
<br />amendment in this act of any statute,
<br />and the statutes that would be applica-
<br />bio to those prosecutions or sentences
<br />but for the provisions of this act remain
<br />applicable to those prosecutions or sen-
<br />tences.'

<br />amended this section, in s. 1359, as
<br />amended by Session Laws 1994, Extra

<br />Session, c. 24, s. 14(c), provides: "This act
<br />becomes effective October 1, 1994, and
<br />applies to offenses occurring on or after
<br />that date. Prosecutions for offenses com-
<br />mitred before the effective date of this
<br />act are not abated or affected by this act,
<br />and the statutes that would be applica-
<br />ble but for this act remain applicable to
<br />those prosecutions.~
<br /> Session Laws 1993, c. 538, s. 8, effec-
<br />tire October 1, 1994, substituted "Class 3
<br />misdemeanor" for "misdemeanor and
<br />shall be fined not more than five hundred
<br />dollars ($500.00), or imprisoned for not
<br />more than 30 days" in the first sentence
<br />of subsection (a). This amendment was
<br />subsequently repealed by Session Laws
<br />1995, e. 509, s. 133.1, effective July 29.
