The City of Kannapolis and Cabarrus <br /> County are currently working together, along with the other municipalities, on the <br /> Unified Development Ordinance (LIDO). That ordinance will probably be <br /> completed soon after the annexation is effective in 1999. It would be very <br /> confusing for Kannapolis to administratively rezone this area and then have to <br /> repeat that process soon after when the UDO is completed. For that reason, the <br /> extension of extraterritorial jurisdiction now, and rezoning with it, makes good <br /> sense. <br /> <br />Representatives of the City of Kannapolis will be present at your meeting to discuss this <br />issue.
