The Retirement of
Mark Kitris
Land Records Manager

Effective date of retirement - 5/30/98

Mark Kitris graduated from high school in Bethlehem, PA and completed his studies at
Penn. St. extension in Allentown, PA.

He is the father of two (2) children Mark and Kym and the proud grandfather of two (2)
grandchildren (Jordan & Coltan)

Mark began working in Cabarrus County in 1964 employed by a private contractor to
prepare maps and inventory every parcel in the county. This assignment was completed
in 1966 and the county offered Mark the position (Cartographer) to maintain the maps he
prepared. Mark accepted and began his employment with Cabarms County on March 7,
1966. For over 32 years Mark has witnessed many changes, both growth and
technological. When he began the county had approximately 32,000 parcels and now
currently we have over 65,000. Mark has seen us go from pen & pencil mapping to a
sophisticated computerized GIS mapping program which has greatly enhanced the entire
program.

I have worked with Mark for approximately 27 years. I truly appreciate his friendship and
his dedicated service to our county.

From his staff and I, Congratulations Mark! We all will miss you and wish you health
and happiness during your rocking chair years.
