Town <br />employees will review regulations and programs with residents when they <br />come in to pay their water bill.~. <br /> <br />North Mecklenburg Sanitation provides literature for residents of Harrisburg. <br />The Town also communicates with residents in a message line on their water <br />bills. <br /> <br />Intended Actior~s: Current programs used by the municipalities will <br />remain in effect. <br /> <br />Special Waste Management <br />Tires <br />Current Program: The County accepts tires at the landfill. Residents from <br />the unincorporated areas of the County, the City of Kannapolis and the Town <br />of Harrisburg must deliver tires to the landfill for collection. Mount Pleasant <br />will collect tires from residents and deliver them to the landfill. <br /> <br />Intended Actions.. Tires that are collected at the landfill are delivered to a <br />private firm, U.S. Tire, in Concord, North Carolina. <br /> <br />White Goods <br />Current Program: The County collects white goods at the landfill and sells <br />the metal on the open market. Each municipality in the planning area <br />provides collection of white goods for their residents and delivers them to the <br />County landfill. <br /> <br />Intended Action~.
