Recreation / <br /> <br /> The Recreation Division consists of athletics, special <br />populations, and special programs areas. Activities encoun- <br />tered provide each participant the opportunity to learn and <br />respect their own abilities, strengths, and weaknesses as they <br />move toward self-fulfillment and self-actualization of their <br />expected potentials. Active participation in these recre- <br />ational pursuits will permit each individual to truly enrich <br />the quality of his or her life. <br /> <br />Special Programs / Publicity and Marketing <br />Division <br /> <br /> The Special Programs Division which encompasses the <br />Class and Workshop section and the Publicity/Marketing <br />section, is responsible for assessing, establishing and pro- <br />moting a variety of both active and passive recreational <br />activities, instructional classes, workshops, summer camps, <br />and special programs. The classes and .workshops are "life <br />long" learning opportunities for people of all ages and ability <br />levels. The Division works in cooperation with the Cabarrus <br />County Schools, Kannapolis City Schools, local churches <br />and agencies utilizing existing facilities and resources. <br /> <br /> The Publicity and Marketing Section works interde- <br />partmentally, developing and implementing promotions, <br />advertising, and marketing campaigns for all division pro- <br />grams and policies. Working closely with thc supervisors in <br />each division, the Publicity and Marketing Supervisor coor- <br />dinates promotions with local and regional media sources, <br />secks and cultivates program sponsorships, and markets the <br />Departmental programs and activities. In cooperation with <br />other local recreation service providers the Publicity and <br />Marketing Section coordinates the development and dis- <br />bursement of the quarterly program brochures. "The Fun <br />Book" and "Good Times" are circulated th rough the Cabarrus <br />Neighbors Charlotte Observer, the Con cord Tribun e, and The <br />Daily Independent.
