Thompson, Ph.D., Chair <br />Public Health Authority Task Force <br /> <br />Proposed Public Health Authority <br /> <br />The Public Health Authority Task Force has completed the three <br />tasks assigned by the Board of Commissioners. With respect to <br />Task #1 it was concluded that the establishment of a health <br />authority is a good idea for Cabarrus County. The Cabarrus County <br />Medical Society, the Cabarrus Physicians Organization, Cabarrus <br />Memorial Hospital, and the Cabarrus County Board of Health concur <br />with this recommendation. These health providers agree that such <br />an authority would emphasize a community focus on the public <br />health needs of Cabarrus County, with special emphasis on reducing <br />duplication of services in meeting the needs of the citizens for <br />public health services. <br /> <br />The following structure for the Cabarrus County Health Authority <br />is recommended: <br /> <br />The Cabarrus Health Authority shall consist of seven (7) <br />members appointed by the Chairman of the Board of County <br />Commissioners based on nominations from the following: <br /> <br />-A member of the Board of Health nominated by the Board of <br />Health; <br />-A member of the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners or <br />their designee; <br />-A member of the Cabarrus County Medical Society nominated by <br />the Medical society; <br />-A member of the Cabarrus Physicians Organization nominated <br />by the Physicians Organization; <br />-A member of the Cabarrus Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees <br />nominated by the Board of Trustees; and <br />-Two (2) public members recommended by th~ five (5) <br />appointees listed above but not to come from any of the <br />groups listed above. <br /> <br />l:q:,.d , '??cra,ni:y/..IJ~irmarire .'Ic~'io,* Emplo2,er <br /> <br /> <br />
