85 <br /> <br />*Funds in the a~unt of $1A,O00.O0 to complete this project to come <br />from our 1997-98 Construction Program or when funds become available <br />earlier. <br /> <br />SR 2683, Willow Drive, Priority No. 16, Subdivision not programmed <br />because it was abandoned to the City of Concord in April, 1996. <br /> <br />Note: If right-of-way cannot be obtained for one of the above roads <br />or if additional funds are received, we will apply funds to next <br />priorities. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Fennel, seconded by Commissioner Casper and <br />unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following Resolution. <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION RELATIVE TO THE <br />1996-1997 SECONDARY ROAD IMPROVEMENT PROGR~ <br />FOR CABARRUS COUNTY <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the North Carolina Department of Transportation has <br /> submitted a proposed Secondary Road Improvement Program <br /> in the amount of $794,525.00 for Cabarrus County for the <br /> 1996-1997 Fiscal Year; and <br />b~4EREAS, representatives of the Department of Transportation in <br /> accordance with North Carolina General Statute 136-4~.8 <br /> met with the Board of County Commissioners at a regular <br /> meeting of the Board on May 21, 1996 at 6:30 P.M. in the <br /> Commissioners' Meeting Room at the Cabarrus County <br /> Governmental Center in Concord, North Carolina, in order <br /> to present to and discuss with the Board and other <br /> citizens present the proposed Secondary Road Improvement <br /> Program; and <br />WHEREAS, North Carolina General Statute 136-46.8 provides that <br /> the Board of County Commissioners, after the <br /> presentation and discussion of the annual Secondary Road <br /> Improvement Program, may concur with the program as <br /> proposed. <br /> NOW, IMEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners that said Board does concur with the 1996 - 1997 <br />Secondary Road Improvement Program as presented by the North <br />Carolina Department of Transportation and recommend that the Board <br />of Transportation adopt the proposed program for Cabarrus County. <br /> Adopted this 21st day of May, 1996. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br />/s/ Frankie F. Barnhart, Chairman <br /> Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners <br /> <br /> Chairman Barnhart thanked Mr. Hough for the recent repair of Crisco Road <br />by the Oepartment of Transportation. Also, Commissioner Casper thanked Mr. Hough <br />for the Department's quick response in erecting two school bus signs on Irish <br />Potato Road. <br /> <br />Adoption of the Rail Corridor Study Resolution <br /> <br /> Mr. Jonathan Marshall, Senior Planner, briefly reviewed the proposed Rail <br />Corridor Study Resolution. The railroad passing through Cabarrus County has been <br />designated a high speed rail corridor; therefore, the Department of <br />Transportation plans to study the possibility of closing some of the at-grade <br />crossings as a means to improve safety, All but two or three of the crossings <br />are located within municipalities, <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Barnhart, seconded by Commissioner Casper and <br />unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following resolution. <br /> <br /> <br />
