We have simply multiplied programs, classes and events offered by the Senior Center. This increase will cover the expenses of Special Events at the Senior Center and the new Senior Travel Club. Also included in this request are funds that are necessary to offset the budget shortage for this budget year. $21,400 was needed to fund the activities that were in place on July 1, 1994. Only $8,500 was budgeted. Therefore, approximately $12,900 of this request is to adjust for inadequate funding based on existing programs from last year. These programs are: Wednesday Lunch Program, Friday Night Dances, Coffee Hour, Special Events/Luau/Western Day/etc. and the Interfaith Conference. 01-6'57~60'325 ' This increase in postage is necessary for us to cover the expense of mailing to our Travel Club, Cabarrus Aging Network Workshop, Interfaith Conference, etc. These items are greatly responsible for our successful increase in participation. 01-6-57-60-320 * 01-6-57-60-412 01-6-57-60-420 · 01-6-57-60-560 01-6-57-60-610 01-6-57-60-630 * This increase in printing and binding will be necessary to continue the Interfaith Conference and Travel Club. This increase in lights and power is based on the increase of usage of the Senior Center. This increase in telephone expenses is based on the increase of usage of the Senior Center. This decrease in equipment maintenance is possible by renegotiating the service contracts for our office equipment. This increase in travel expenses is due to an increase in the number of In-Home Service Aides. The Department of Aging did not allow enough travel budge~ to cover the additional cost of adding these positions last year. This increase in dues and subscriptions is necessary to continue our association with local, state and national professional aging associations.
