Reserve Strip - a parcel of land extending from a street right-of-way to the end of a <br />property line. <br /> <br />Road, Street~ or Highway - a dedicated public or private right-of-way for vehicular <br />or pedestrian traffic which meets one of the following definitions: <br /> <br />Private Roads - a dedicat~l right-of-way and/or road which may not meet <br />the minimum standards of the NC Department of Transportation for public <br />streets. <br /> <br />2. <br /> <br />Urban Roads - streets within the KANLACON Metropolitan Planning <br />Organization boundaries and classified in the Kanlacon Thoroughfare Plan <br />which is incorporated in this document by reference. These are further <br />divided into the following categories: <br /> <br />a. Local Access Streeis - designed only to provide access to abutting <br /> property. May be residential, commercial, or industrial. <br /> <br />b. Minor Thoroughfares - designed to collect traffic from local access <br /> streets. <br /> <br />Major Thoroughfares - the primary traffic arteries of the urban area <br />providing for traffic movements within, around and through the <br />area. <br /> <br />4 <br /> <br />Rural Roads - those streets outside the KANLACON MPO area boundaries <br />and classified within the Cabarrus County Thoroughfare Plan which is <br />incorporated in this document by reference. These are further divided into <br />the following categories: <br /> <br />a. Principal Arterial System - a connected network of continuous <br /> routes which serve interstate or intrasta~ traffic. <br /> <br />b. Minor Arterial System - a network which links cities, towns, or <br /> other major traffic generators. <br /> <br />c. Collector Road System - intracounty routes of two types: <br /> <br />1. Major Collector Roads - streets providing service to the <br /> arterial system and major traffic generators. <br /> <br /> <br />
