In tom, the District provides water service to portions of the unincorporated areas of the <br />county and to the Town of Harrisburg. The City of Kannapolis provides water to the Kannapolis service area, <br />part of which is located in Rowan County just north of Cabarrus County. Although Kannapolis also currently <br />provides water to the District, in 1992 all water for the District was supplied by Concord. Mount Pleasant <br />provides water for its municipal sen, ice area. <br /> <br />Concord and Kannapolis use surface water for theix water supply. Coddle Creek, Lake Concord and Lake Fisher <br />are the surface water sources for Concord. Kannapolis Lake, Coddle Creek and Second Creek are the water <br />sources for Kannapolis. Mount Pleasant primarily uses surface water, with a ground water supply for emergency <br />use. Dutch Buffalo Creek is the primary surface water source for Mount Pleasant, and a reservoir on Black Run <br />is used during emergency conditions. The map in Appendix B depicts the location of these surface water sources. <br /> <br />Water Use <br /> <br />The average daily municipal water use for Cabarrus County in 1992 was 14.81 mgd. The WTPs at Concord, <br />g~napolis and Mount Pleasant produced an average annual daily water use of 6.43, 8.13 and 0.25 mgd, <br />respectively. The maximum monthly average water use was 7.44 mgd in July for Concord, 9.27 mgd for <br />gannapolis in November, 0.30 mgd for Mount Pleasant in 1uly, 0.31 mgd for Harrisburg in August, and 1.61 <br />mgd in 1uly for the District. The minimum monthly average water use was 5.73 mgd in January for Concord, <br />6.85 mgd in Dec, ember for I~a-rtapolis, 0.22 mgd for Mount Pleasant in January and March, 0.19 mgd for <br />Harrisburg in January and April, and 0.99 mgd in February for the District. During peak days in the summer <br />months of 1992, the demand reached as high as 9.04 mgd for Concord and 0.437 mgd for Mount Pleasant. <br />Kannapolis's peak day was 11.22 mgd in September. Since neither Harrisburg orthe D..'istrict operates aWTP, <br />their peak days are unknown. Table 2 shows the average monthly water use in mgd for each WSACC member. <br />Table 3 is a breakdown of water use by the type of user. <br /> <br /> <br />
