Recreation <br /> <br /> The Recreation Division consists of athletics, special <br />populations, and special programs areas. Activities encoun- <br />tered provide each participant the opportunity to learn and <br />respect their own abilities, strengths, and weaknesses as they <br />move toward self-fulfillment and self-actualization of their <br />expected potentials. Active participation in these recreational <br />pursuits will permit each individual to truly enrich the quality <br />of his or her life. <br /> <br />Special Programs / Publicity and Marketing <br />Division <br /> <br /> The Special Programs Division which encompasses the <br />Class and Workshop section and the Publicity/Marketing <br />sec tion, i s responsible for assessing, establishing and promoting <br />a variety of both active and passive recreational activities, <br />instructional classes, workshops, summer camps, and special <br />programs. The classes and workshops are "life long" learning <br />opportunities for people of all ages and ability levels. The <br />Division works in cooperation with the Cabarrus County <br />Schools, Kannapolis City Schools, local' churches and agen- <br />cies utilizing existing facilities and resources. <br /> <br /> The Publicity and Marketing Section works <br />intradepartmentally, developing and implementing promo- <br />tions, advertising, and marketing campaigns for all division <br />programs and policies. Working closely with the supervisors <br />in each division, the Publicity and Marketing Supervisor <br />coordinates promotions wilh local and regional media sources, <br />seeks and cultivates program sponsorships, and markets the <br />Departmental programs and activities. In cooperation with <br />other local recreation service providers the Publicity and <br />Marketing Section coordinates the development and dis- <br />bursement of the quarterly program brochures. "The Fun <br />Book" and "Good Ti roes" arc ci rcu luted through the Cabarrus <br />Neighbors Charlotte Observer, the Concord Tribune, and The <br />Daily Independent.
