Youth Basketball <br /> <br /> Youth basketball has a high level of participation with <br />164 teams competing in divisions for boys andgirls, age 6 - 17. <br />The season begins in December and runs through March. <br />Games are played at school facilities, city recreation centers <br />and YMCA facilities. <br /> <br />Youth Baseball <br /> <br /> Youth baseball continues to hold the lead in participation <br />with 217 teams and 3000 players participating in leagues <br />countywide. The program offers leagues for 6 - 18 year olds, <br />with games beginning in April and continuing through June. <br />Games are played at school facilities and city recreation <br />facilities. <br /> <br />Youth Softball <br /> <br /> Seventy-six teams took part in girls softball leagues <br />offered for ages 8 - 10, 11 - 12,and 13- 18. Play beginsin April <br />and runs through June with games played at school facilities <br />and city recreation facilities. <br /> <br />Adult Basketball <br /> <br /> Leagues for adult basketball are offered in mens' open, <br />industrial, and womens' divisions, age 18 and over. The <br />industrial league has showed the highest level of participation <br />over the past year, with 8 teams. Play begins in January and <br />ends in March. Games are played at city recreation facilities. <br /> <br />Adult Softball <br /> <br /> Adult softball continues to grow in popularity with 60 <br />teams participating in leagues for mens' open, industrial, <br />church, and womens' divisions, ages 18 and over. The spring/ <br />summer leagues begin play in April and continue through the <br />end of July. The fall leagues begin in August and end in <br />October. Games are played at Frank Liske Park and Bakers <br />Creek Park on weekday evenings. <br /> <br />Tennis Tournaments / Jr. Tennis Program <br /> <br /> Tennis tournaments where held in conjuncture with two <br />local festivals. In September, a junior tournament was held at <br />Bakers Creek Park during the Family Fun Fest '94. Also, in <br />May a tournament for all ages was held during the Share <br />Cabarrus Festival. Matches were played at Frank Liske Park <br />and the Cabarrus Country Club. A new junior tennis program <br />was introduced with the cooperation of the Concord Tennis <br /> <br />18 <br /> <br /> <br />
