increase the upper limit of this Amendment by the remaining amount exceeding the
estimated costs as provided herein.

Subtask 2.3 - Geotechnical Laboratotw Testing

During drilling operations, undistributed (Shelby Tubes) soil samples will be collected at
each well location for laboratory testing of soil porosity for the formation materials within
the surficial aquifer at the screen interval as required by Section .1632 (d) of the SWS
rules. A total of seven soil samples will be submitted for laboratory analysis. Soil
samples will not be collected from the gas monitoring well borings.

Subtask 2.4 - Well Completion Records and Boring Logs

CDM will complete well completion records and boring logs for each groundwater
monitoring well and gas well. A copy of the well completion records and boring logs will
be included in the final report referenced in Task 6.

Subtask 2.5 - Hydraulic Conductivity (Slug) Tests

Rule .1632 (d) requires that the rate and direction of groundwater flow be determined.
CDM will conduct a rising or failing head hydraulic conductivity test at each of the new
groundwater monitoring wells to determine groundwater flow velocities and
characteristics.

TASK 3 - MONITOR WELL LOCATION/ELEVATION SURVEYING &
BENCHkL,~RKS

The North Carolina SWS requires that all monitoring wells be surveyed. CDM will retain
a North Carolina Registered Land Surveyor to provide horizontal and vertical control for
each well as required. Survey data will be tied to the required on-site benchmarks.
Horizontal control is required to the nearest 0.1 foot while vertical control to the nearest
0.01 foot and in NCSP coordinates.

TASK 4 - MONITOR WELL AND SURFACE WATER SAMPLING AND
ANALYSIS

.As part of the transition plan, the SWS required the collection of four independent
samples from each of the monitoring wells located around the existing landfill prior to
October 9, 1994. The SWS recently revised its policy and now requires that one sample
be collected before October 9, 1994 and the remaining three samples be collected before
April 9, 1995. These samples will be collected in lieu of the normal semi-annual
sampling. Under this task, CDM will collect the four independent samples from each of
the seven new monitor wells and the two existing monitor wells (incorporated as per the
letter from the SWS). In addition, during two of the sampling events, samples will be
