Rock types
Recovery values
Rock Quality Designation (RQD) values
Saturated hydraulic conductivity and secondary porosity
Rock descriptions including fracturing and jointing pattems

A CDM geologist will also conduct the necessary tests to determine hydraulic conductivity of
the aquifers as requested by the SWS. CDM will collect static water levels from each of the
new and existing piezometers at the time of boring, at 24 hours, and at 7 days. It is assumed
that County staff will continue to collect monthly water levels on both the new and existing
piezometers thereafter for at least 18 months in order to obtain information on the seasonal
high water table.

Task 3.4 - Reconnaissance Magnetic Survey

Geologic maps of the landfill site region indicate the possible occurrence of diabase dikes in
the vicinity of the Cabarms County landfill. A diabase dike is basically an area where molten
material has intruded into rock near the surface. Diabase dikes are often preferential paths for
ground water flow. For this reason, the SWS is likely to request that a surface geophysical
survey be conducted to determine the existence of diabase dikes on the proposed sites. The
purpose of the magnetic survey will be to provide geophysical evidence of the presence or
lack of diabase dikes at the proposed site. CDM w/Il retain a qualified subconsultant to
perform the magnetic survey. The cost for the survey is included in the allowance for
geoteclmical drilling work in Section 4 of this Amendment. The scope of services for the
magnetic survey work will include the following:

3.4.1

Review of Available Aerial Magnetic Data - CDM's subconsultant will acquire and
review available aerial magnetic data of the Cabarms County Region. This review
will precede any geophysical field work and be incorporated into the approach of our
survey.

3.4.2

Magnetic Survey Field Work - CDM's subconsultant will perform a limited magnetic
survey to include at least two survey lines across both Option A and B. The work will
be performed with a portable magnetometer/gradiometer. We estimate that this work
will require about one to two days in the field. Survey line locations will be selected
by CDM. The intent is to select lines which would cross typical dike trends at right
angles. The CDM subconsultant will locate these lines in the field by estimating
distances to site features and using corresponding topographic maps. Data will be
collected at 25 to 50 foot intervals as selected by CDM and the subconsultant. Any
magnetic anomalies indicating a diabase dike will be flagged along the survey line as a
temporary marker.

3.4.3

Analyses and Reporting - CDM and the subconsultant will analyze the magnetic data
to estimate the location of any significant magnetic features encountered in our survey.
Detailed analyses wkich involve computer modeling are not included in this scope of
services. Man-made interference to include power lines, buried objects, and traffic can

n:xcabarmaxamendT.cab Page 6 of 18
