CONTRACT <br /> <br /> Human Services Transportation <br /> for <br /> <br />County of Cabarrus, North Carolina <br /> <br />This con:ract made and entered into this __ day of December ~ 199q, by and <br />between Count}' of Cabarrus, North Carolina, P. O. Box 707, Concord, NC 2802~, <br />hereSnafter referred to as COb~TY, and Mayflower Contract Services, Inc.~ 53~0 <br />College Bouievard~ Overland Park, KS 66211, hereinafter referred to as MCS. <br /> <br />Witnesseth: <br /> <br />Whereas, COL~TY desires to purchase transportation services at a coordinated <br />and economical rate per mile, under the terms and conditions set forth kerain~ <br />~N-D_, Whereas MCS agrees to enter into this contract luader the terms and <br />conditions set forth herein; Now therefore, in consideration of the mutual <br />a9reemen~, ~ke following articles are set forth: <br /> <br />~RT%CLE I. RCS WILL: <br /> <br />A. Provide all administrative and related services to ensure reliable <br />~ansporcaticn at the lowest possible cost, and will schedule all services on <br />a vehicle/space available basis; <br /> <br />5. Lease COL~Y vehicles for the sum of $1.00 each per vehicle per year <br />prcv±din9 transportation for the participating human service agencies; <br />~uaran%ees ~hac the COb~TY vehicles will be used as the primary source cf <br />vehicles in providing this service; <br /> <br />C. Manage and operate the system for a twelve month period beginning January <br />i, 1995 and ending Dece.q~ber 3~, ~995; with option to renew under the ter~s of <br />~his agreement by mutual consent for up ~o two additional one year periods <br />('~i! Decer~er 31, 1997) . Managing and operating the system is ~nderstood tc <br />5nc!ude: Employing staff and drivers; Purchasing fuel, supplies, and all <br />~?Tes of ±nsurance re.an/ired; Leasin~ vans and office space; Maintaining end <br />dispatching vans; Maintaining all financial and operations records; Billing <br />the participants for the ~ransportation provided; Coordinating client <br />~r&nspcrtation ~o provide the maximum number of client trips at the lowest <br />reasonable cost to the agencies; Participating in any vehicle preventiv~ <br />maintenance and driver trainin~ programs sponsored by the North Caro!i:~a <br />Department of Transportation; Appropriately train and supervise drivers ~c be <br />sensitive to the special needs of the passengers of the system; and CG!leczLn9 <br />any special surcharges or gasoline refunds on behalf of the participants {suck <br />as surcharge for vehicle replacement); <br /> <br />D. Prepare and s~ubmit a stacistical performance progress report mc~thly for <br />presentation to COUNTY, showing the number of a~encies participating, <br />driven, passengers serviced, system cost for the month, total number of c!ian5 <br /> <br />pg332~01 <br /> <br /> <br />
