Local Health Department Directors <br />November 30, 1992 <br />page 3 <br /> <br />>>hiring or shifting ancillary staff, including clerks and <br />outreach workers, to free nurses to conduct more immunization <br />clinics; <br /> <br />>>establishing longer, nontraditional types of clinics that <br />are more convenient for parents, including placing staff who <br />can administer vaccine in community and social service <br />settings (e.g., WIC, etc.); <br /> <br />>>conducting outreach education and publicity campaigns <br />targeted toward high risk populations; and <br /> <br />>>combining forces with other resources that may complement or <br />adopt your preschool immunization objective, such as business <br />or voluntary organizations and/or your county's Healthy <br />Carolinians 2000 Task Force. <br /> <br />To ensure that all IAP monies are encumbered durinq calendar <br /> <br />year 1992, we are askinq county's to use a December 1, 1992, date <br />on the enclosed forms. Please siqn and return the enclosed budqet <br />materials and contract addendum by January 20, 1993. <br /> <br /> We have tried to make the contract addendum requirements <br />reasonable and achievable. The Basic Local Immunization Services <br />that are listed in the addendum are those agreed to by the <br />Epidemiology Liaison Committee and many of you during focus group <br />discussions last spring. <br /> <br /> To further support your planning process, please plan to <br />attend and bring as many staff as possible to the State-of-the- <br />State Immunization Conference, February 15-17, at the omni Europa <br />Hotel in Chapel Hill.
