JAMES B, HUNT, JR. <br />GOVERNOR <br /> <br />NATIONAL COM~IUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT WEEK <br />1993 <br /> <br /> BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br /> <br /> A PROCLAMATION <br /> <br /> The National Community Development Block Grant Progran~ <br />has operated since 1S75 to provide local governments with <br />resources to help enhance the quality of life for lo%; and <br />moderate income Americans. <br /> <br /> Over 14,000 houses have been rehabilitated in North <br />Carolina and over $375 million distributed statewide to help <br />improve living conditions such as housing, street <br />improvements, water and sewer, and infrastructure <br />improvements for approximately 33,855 low and moderate income <br />North Carolinians. <br /> <br /> Although North Carolina has a bright economic future, we <br />must renew our commitment to addressing the needs of those <br />less fortunate. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, I, JAMES B. HUNT JR., Governor of the <br />State of North Carolina, do hereby proclaim April 5 through <br />i1, 1993, as "National Community Development Block Grant <br />Week," and urge all citizens to Join us in recognizing the <br />importance of the Community Development Block Grant Program <br />to our State and the nation. <br /> <br />JAMES B.
