ExpAnded Automation/Simplification <br />Page -2- <br /> <br />What Has Been Expanded: <br /> <br /> a) Direct Data Entry for IMC's for minor changes has been expanded to total <br />data entry capability based on a state pilot now in progress. What started as a <br />savings of $13,321 per year now is estimated at approximately $47,617. Target date, <br />late 1994. <br /> <br /> b) P.C. Availability for supervisors has been expanded to one per unit for <br />1994. Based on programs already identified such as reports, monitoring, forms <br />generation, we estimate substantial savings above original amount. Target date <br />January, 1995. <br /> <br /> c) The Single Application once thought to be one of encouraging the State and <br />Federal governments to change policy is now being actively pursued by Cabarrus <br />County on its own. A single application will be in Cabarrus County by June, 1994 <br />with a savings of $48,828. Statewide, that is over four million. <br /> <br /> d) Annual Reviews on long term care cases has been expanded to AFDC low <br />risk and changed to allow mail-ins. <br /> <br /> e) Lead Workers to assist supervisor in review has been expanded to include <br />staff development functions. A savings of $70~560 has been inereased to $118,177. <br /> <br /> f) Move Day Care to one coordinator has been expanded to transfer program <br />supervision and control to Services. This move will increase savings from $4,251.60 <br />to $14,030 per year. Target date remains February, 1994. <br /> <br />Possible total savings known to date $228,652. <br /> <br />WhAt's New: <br /> <br /> a) Forms and Processing abbreviations will cut down on wasted time sending <br />forms in round about ways, consolidate forms and eliminate others. Target date <br />January to February, 1994. <br /> <br /> b) Record Storage - Better ways to store and maintain records. Target date <br />May to June, 1994. <br /> <br /> c) County Policy Book - formalize agency policy in handling cases - Target <br />date January, 1994. <br /> <br /> d) Central Resources Clearance - Centralizes some resource clearance and <br />tracking. Target February, 1994. <br /> <br /> e) By using the Principle Provider as a way to alleviate IMC's from monitoring <br />deductibles, Cabarrus County can save approximately $7,086. Target date April, <br />1994. <br /> <br /> f) Automatic Food Stamp Eligibility on AFDC - Using AFDC standards for Food <br />Stamp eligibility and recertification on AFDC eases could save the state over <br />$1~000~000 a year in administrative costs. Cabarrus County alone would realize a <br />savings of approximately $10,000 per year. <br /> <br /> <br />
