ExpAnded Automation/Simplification
Page -4-

q) One of the IV-D Reports used consistently by AFDC IMC's is received in five
copies, each 31-35 pages long. Since it is a required resource for all, we must
make 22 copies or an additional 9,000 page copies per year. The form is on RMD
(computer) but is not allowed to be used instead of paper because it is not
accurate. We intend to see that it is accurate and eliminate the paper. Target -
1994.

r) Merging "Baby Love" (Maternal and Child Health) and MPW is done in other
states. The process not only improves the outcome envisioned of less low
birthrates, but reduces administrative expenses in DSS. In Cabarrus County, this
is approximately a $16~581 savings per year. Target - 94-95.
(Note: Using administrative cost per case action would double savings. )

s) Property and Bank Clearances are required by the state in all long term
care cases, yet the results (hits) are minimal. Cabarrus County can save worker
time and thereby dollars if this were eliminated.

t) Automation of Vendor Payments for day care would save administrative costs
for DSS. Such an effort is supported by State Income Maintenance but resisted by
Day Care. Cabarrus will move to bring this into operation. Target - 1994.
