The State of North Carolina helps in providing three regional state parks within a one hour <br />drMng distance of Cabarrus County ~'~d maintains ',.he historic Reed Gold Mine within Midland <br />Township. The private sector provides sixteen facilities which include primarily of swim clubs, <br />sport centers, and country clubs. Church sites also provide ba]lfields and court activities. <br /> <br />The qu~i-public sector is responsible for the remaining fifteen recreational facilities within the <br />county. Key facilities include the Char]one Motor Speedway, the Cannon Memorial YMCA, the <br />Murdock Senior CStizen Center, and the Dixie Youth Bzllfield Complex. <br /> <br />The Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Department provide programs ~hrough its recreation <br />division. Programs are dMded into three areas: athletic, special populations/special e\,ems, and <br />special programs. <br /> <br />The City of Concord maintains a pa-k and recreation department which provides programs <br />separately and often cooperatively wiuh Cabarrus County.
