By posting copies of the proposed roadway corridor map <br /> or amendment at the courthouse door for at ]east 21 <br /> days prior to the hearing date. The notice required in <br /> suit-subdivision a. above shall make reference to this <br /> posting. <br /> (2) A permanent Certified copy of the roadway corridor o~cial <br /> map or amendment has been filed with the register of <br /> deeds. The boundaries may be defined by map orby <br /> ten description, or a combination thereof. The copy shall <br /> measume approximately 20 inches by 12 inches, including <br /> no less than one and one-half inches binding space on the <br /> Jeff-hand side. <br /> (b) Roadway corridor official maps and amendments shall be dis- <br />tributed and maintained in the following mannen <br /> (1) A copy of the official map and each amendment thereto <br /> shallbe filed in the office oft.he city clerk and in the office <br /> of the ~strJct engineer. <br /> (2) A copy of the official map, each amendment therete and <br /> any variance therefrom granted pursuant tn G.S. <br /> 136-44.52 _shall be furnish_ed to the tax supervisor of any <br /> county an.d tax collector of any city affected thereby. The <br /> portion of properties embracedw~th/n a roadway corridor <br /> and any variance granted shall be ,clearly ~ndicated on all <br /> t~x maps maintained by the coum_~ or city for such period <br /> as the designation' remains in effect. <br /> ($) Notwithstanding any other prov/sion of law, the certified <br /> copy ~Sled v~th the register of deeds shall be placed in a <br /> book maintained for that purpose and cross-indexed by <br /> numb_er of road, street name, or other appropriate descrip- <br /> tion. The register of deeds shall collect a fee of five dollars <br /> ($5.00) for each map,sheet or page recorded. <br /> (c) Repealed by Session Labs :1989, c. 595, s. 1, effective 3uly 7, <br />1989. . - <br /> (d) Within one year follo~,ing the establishment of a roadway <br />corridor official map or amendment, work shall begin on an en~6- <br />ronmental impact statement or preliminary engineering. The fail- <br />ure to beg~n work ~"Jthin the one-year period shall constitute an <br />abandonment o£rhe corridor, and the pro~'Jsions of this Article shall <br />no longer apply to properties or portions of properties embraced <br />within the roadway corridor. A ci(y may prepare environmental <br />~mpact .tud~es and prehmmary engineering work in connection <br />w~rh the establishment of a roadway corridor official map or <br />amendments to a roadway conSdor official map. When a city pre- <br />pares a roadway corridor official map for a street or highway that <br />has been designated a State responsibility nursuant to G S <br />~36-66.2, the environmental impact study and'~rel~minarv en~' <br />neering worh shall be reviewed and approved by ~be Depart~:nent~of <br />Transportation.
