Cabarrus Aging Funding Plan
Public Hearing
April 6, 1992
Page 3

Sue Casper, Region F Aging Advisory Committee member and HCCBG
Advisory Committee member, endorsed the allocations and services as
presented in the Aging Funding Plan, but expressed her concern
regarding the elimination of the Health Screening service which had
previously been funded with Title III grant funds. She expressed
that she would like to see this service funded in some way because
the service is a good one, it is cost effective and it serves the
people well.

Jim Graeber, Region F Aging Advisory Committee member, supports all
the services to be provided. However, he also expressed concern
for discontinuing the Health Screening service and cited the fact
that the Cabarrus County Health Department has recently
discontinued offering health screening services at a discount to
older adults. He spoke about the Home Repair service and the need
for funding to complete all the repairs needed. He also stated his
concern that many older adults lack the financial resources to
purchase prescription drugs.

Tami Collins, In-Home Services.Supervisor at the Department of
Aging, explained the In-Home Aide II (respite) services the agency
provides, to relieve caregivers of older adults. This service
provides support to families who are caring for an older adult in
the home.

A written comment was provided by Irene Childers. She expressed
the gratitude for the care given to her mother-in-law by the
Department of Social Services In-Home Aide services. Her mother-
in-law is an invalid who requires more attention than the family is
able to give.

Sue Archer asked for questions from the audience. There were none
and the Public Hearing was closed at 6:20 p. m.
