provide instructions to meet an emergency ambulance enroute or <br /> authorize transportation of the patient to an emergency medical <br /> facility. A non-emergency ambulance may only transport an <br /> emergency patient upon receipt of authorization from CMED; and, <br /> may only transport such patient to the closest emergency medical <br /> facility as defined herein. <br /> <br /> In any event wherein a non-emergency ambulance service <br /> attendant is confronted with an emergency patient, the attendant <br /> shall provide appropriate emergency first aid for the patient <br /> until such time as an emergency ambulance arrives to assume <br /> responsibility for the patient, or the patient is delivered to an <br /> emergency medical facility. <br /> <br /> SECTION 7. STANDARDS FOR OPERATORS AND ATTEndANTS: <br /> <br /> Each Emergency Medical Technician of a franchised ambulance <br /> service provider shall present record of certification as an <br /> Emergency Medical Technician awarded by the State of North <br /> Carolina when requested by the County. <br /> <br /> Ambulance service providers shall not allow any person to be <br /> employed or act as an ambulance operator or attendant unless such <br /> person shall meet all laws and regulations of the State of North <br /> Carolina, and be currently certified as an Emergency Medical <br /> Technician in and by the State of North Carolina. <br /> <br /> SECTION 8. STANDARDS FORAFiBULANCE EQUIPF~7~: <br /> <br /> Required equipment in each ambulance of a franchised <br /> ambulance provider shall include, as a minimum, at all times when <br /> the ambulance is in use as such, equipment conforming to ail <br /> State regulations and standards for such ambulances designated <br /> category. <br /> <br /> Emergency ambulance service providers ambulances shall meet <br /> Category I ambulance equipment regulations and standards. <br /> <br /> Non-emergency ambulance service providers ambulances shall <br /> meet either Category I or Category II ambulance equipment <br /> regulations and standards. <br /> <br />· SECTION 9. STANDARDS FOR AF~ULANCES: <br /> <br /> Each ambulance of a franchised ambulance provider shall at <br /> all times, when utilized as such, comply with all State <br /> regulations and standards and each such ambulance shall be <br /> currently certified by the State of North Carolina. <br /> <br /> <br />
