Each ambulance of an emergency ambulance service provider <br /> shall be cert~fled as a Category · ambulance. <br /> <br /> EaCh ambulance of a non-emergency ambulance service provider <br /> shall be certified either as a Category I or Category II <br /> az~ulance. <br /> <br /> SECTION 10. COMMUNICATIONS: <br /> <br /> CMED is operated by the County and is responsible for the <br />dispatch of emergency ambulances and for the communications and <br />coordination of all emergency ambulance service operations in <br />Cabarrus County. <br /> <br /> Each ambulance shall be equipped with a two-way radio <br /> licensed by the Federal Communications Commission which must be <br /> in operative condition at all times said ambulance is in service. <br /> <br /> Each emergency ambulance must maintain direct radio <br />communications with CMED at all times by way of the State <br />designated V~F radio system. Communications shall be conducted <br />on frequency 155.160 MHZ or 155.280 MHz unless otherwise directed <br />by CMED. <br /> <br /> Each emergency ambulance must provide direct radio <br />communication, through CMED, with the emergency medical facility <br />to which /ts patient is being transported. <br /> <br /> Each emergency ambulance provider which receives calls for <br />emergency ambulance service directly, independent of and/or in <br />addition to calls received by CMED, must provide for public <br />access to its service on a 24 hour per day, 7 day per week basis. <br /> <br /> Each n~n-emerge~cy ambulance must be able to maintain an <br />open line of communication with CMED at all times such ambulance <br />is in service. Communication shall be provided for by way of the <br />designated State Rescue VHF simplex radio system (operating on <br />155.280 MHz). <br /> <br /> Each non-emergency ambulance service may provide direct <br />radio communication, through CMED, with the medical facility to <br />which its patient is being transported on State Rescue frequency <br />155,340 MHz. <br /> <br /> Each ambulance utilized in the dual capacity of providing <br />both emergency and non-emergency ambulance service, pursuant to <br />this ordinance, must maintain communications with CMED in <br />accordance with the standards established for emergency <br />ambulances. <br /> <br /> <br />
