No. 86019.00

Subject:' Request to Release Project for Bids

Dear Mr. McGinnis:

This letter is tO inform you that the Construction Documents
and Specifications for the Cabarrus County Governmental
Center are'complete and ready for public bidding. We are
requesting that you consider this on the next~ available
agenda for action by the County Commissioners. At this time,
our schedule calls for us to release this project for bids on
February 8, 1988, and receive bids at 2 p.m. on March 9,
1988,

A history of this project to date is as follows:

Our firm ~as selected as Architects and Designer~ for this
project approximately .18 months ago at which time we were
asked by the County Commissioners to consider two sites for
this complex: One site was on the existing County-owned
property at the fairgrounds and the other site was one that
would retain' the County Administrative offices in the
downtown sector of Concord. After completing site analysis
of both sites, we appeared before the Board of' County
Commissioners and recommended that the downtown site be
adopted, since we felt the various departments that would be
located within this building would be more correctly located
adjacent to the Clerk of Court and other judicial agencies
that would remain in the County Courthouse. This
recommendation was approved by the Commissioners.

18 Sprin~ Street, N.W. Concord, N(,-8().o (704) 788-9115

I
