· · · · · · · <br /> <br /> 1987 Annual Report p~ge 2: <br /> <br /> The economic development office records show that we sent out to <br />prospective clients 323 different site sheets on buildings and/or <br />property to be considered as a possible, location for their business. <br />Additionally we sent out 393 profile sheets on either the county or <br />one of the four municipalities in the county. 165 demographic statics <br />packages on Cabarrus Coantywere also sent to prospective clients. Our <br />advertising efforts show we distributed approximately 5000 brochures <br />on the county and in our national advertising campaign, through <br />develo~x~ent related magazines and Piedmont Airlines Pace magazine, paid <br />off with 441 inquiries coming to ou~ office of which all were answered <br />and had follow,ps. Our video "Cabarrus County - AG olden Place To Be", <br />which won at the Southern Industrial Development Council Annual meeting <br />Best of Class in Literature and ~Pr~otional Awards competition, also was <br />very actively used as we had 72 showings in the economic development office, <br />group showings away from the office to approximately 650-700 persons, which <br />does not include its shewing at the N. C. Connection meeting in the spring <br />of last year, and also we mailed out the VCR to clients for viewing away <br />from the county 48 times. The above led to active client visits on just <br />about a weekly basis and some weeks we had two to three clients in the <br />area. Last but not least we were quite active in the county locating land <br />sites and business facilities to make available to prospective clients. <br /> <br />The most noted of these being the Kannapolis Industrial Site, Copperfield, Inc., <br />Kings Grant/Charlotte Motor Speedway Properties, Branchview Office Plaza, <br />and the N. C. Credit Union Building. <br /> <br /> · Specific major accomplishments over the year have been the establishment <br />by Wiscassett Mills Company of Albemarle, NC of a speciality yarns spinning <br />mill, ~he reopening by Fieldcrest Cannon, Inc. of two spinning mills, <br />Philip Morris U S A increase in employment to its full compliment in order <br /> <br /> <br />
