6. No ~irst responder or agency will be allowed to cancel <br /> the dispatch of an ambulance unless a release is obtained <br /> by the first responder. <br /> <br /> 7. No more than four (4) first responders per patient shall <br /> be at the emergency scene unless the conditions warrant <br /> addltlonal first responders. If more than the required <br /> number of first responders appear at the scene, they <br /> shall: <br /> a. ge held in reserve in case their services are <br /> required. <br /> b. Provide t~afftc control. <br /> <br /> vehicle arrives on the scene before the first responder, <br /> they may, at their discretion, cancel the first <br /> responder en route or slow their response. <br /> <br />SECTION 8: Standards for Patient Care by First Respender Agency <br /> and the First Responder Member. <br /> <br /> I. At the scene of an emergency, the first responder agency <br /> shall administer basic life support and first-aid, <br /> including the taking of vital signs, to the sick or <br /> injured in a way that is consistent with the level of <br /> first responder training set forth. <br /> <br /> 2. Cabarrus County First Responders who possess current and <br /> valid North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician <br /> certification shall administer patient care which is <br /> consistent with the level of Emergency Medical <br /> Technician training set forth by the State of North <br /> Carolina. <br /> <br /> 3. At the scene of the emergency and prior to the ambulance <br /> providers arrival, the senior first responder shall be <br /> in control of the emergency victim's care provided by <br /> that agency and its members. <br /> <br /> 4. Upon arriving at the scene of the emergency, the crew on <br /> the ambulance shal ! assume control of the victim's care <br /> at the emergency scene. <br /> <br /> 3. The ambulance crew sh~l I 0 at their discretion, release <br /> the first re,ponders when he'or she feels their service <br /> is no longer needed at* the emergency scene or may request <br /> one or more first responders to assist in the <br /> transportation of the patient(s) to the hospital. <br /> <br /> 6. The first responders shall act in a professional and <br /> care to patients. <br /> <br /> <br />
