I mm

II. EXISTING FACILITIES

A large portion of Cabarrus County is served by the Rocky River Waste-
water Treatment Plant located on Rocky River west of U.S. 601. Major
interceptors serving the cities of Concord and Kannapolis extend from the
treatment plant up Irish Buffalo Creek and Cold Water Creek into the
northern portion of Cabarrus County. The City of Mount Pleasant is
served by interceptors leading to a pump station near the confluence of
Dutch Buffalo Creek and Adams Creek. Wastewater is then pumped westward
to the Cold Water Creek interceptor.

Another interceptor serves a portion of the western side of Cabarrus
County and the Town of Harrisburg. This interceptor extends from the
treatment plant west up Rocky River to 8ack Creek and along Back Creek to
the Town of Harrisburg. A new interceptor from Rocky River up Coddle
Creek to N.C. 49 is nearing completion, and two additional segments will
soon be constructed up Coddle Creek to Wolf Meadow Branch and from Coddle
Creek up Wolf Meadow Branch to serve some property recently annexed by
the City of Concord.

III. PROPOSED FACILITIES

The proposed facilities include interceptors, collectors, pump stations,
force mains, and a small wastewater treatment plant. The facilities were
broken up into projects as follows:

A. Project No. lA - Coddle Creek Interceptor - Wolf Meadow Branch to
U.S. 29: This project consists of approximately 17,100 LF of
30-inch interceptors along Coddle Creek from the proposed
projects by the City of Concord at Wolf Meadow Branch to U.S. 29,
and approximately 28,000 LF of collectors serving existing
developed areas. The project cost is estimated to be $3,132,000.
This Project will serve an estimated population of 700.

-2-
