Page 2 <br />MCGinnis, Mr. charles <br /> <br /> According to the 1980 Census, there were 7,864 persons in poverty <br />(as defined by Federal guidelines) residing in Cabarrus County. The <br />level of funding that your county would receive is based on the <br />percentage of low~inc0me persons in Cabarrus County (0.94%) when <br />compared to the State's total number in poverty. While the exact <br />figures are not yet available, the following funding estimates are <br />provided for your information: <br /> <br /> community Services Block Grant $70,000 <br /> Community Action Partnership Program 6,000 <br /> TOTAL $76,000 <br /> <br /> The Division of Economic Opportunity has asked that we notify <br />their office no later than September 12, 1984 if your County <br />Commission plans to join our agency in order to participate in the <br />Community services Block Grant Program during Federal Fiscal Year 1985 <br />or the Community Action Partnership Program. We request that this <br />response be received in writing no later than the above mentioned <br />date. <br /> <br /> For your information, I have enclosed an agency brochure which <br />describes the programs that we currently operate.
