the meter for causes deemed justifiable by the County. <br /> H. By-Pass <br /> <br /> No by-pass around any meter shall be installed unless determined <br />by the County to be necessary, and installation performed by the <br />County; and where such devices exist, the use of same shall be <br />regulated by the County. Unauthorized use of by-pass may result in <br />removal of meter as well as all other penalties, civil or criminal, <br />provided by law. <br /> <br /> I. Cross-Connections <br /> <br /> Cross-connections are expressly prohibited, and may result in <br />removal of meter supplying such connection as well as all other <br />penalties, civil or criminal, provided by law. An example of this <br />would be the inter-connection of a well water supply with a potable <br />public water supply. Upon discovery of a cross-connection upon any <br />property being furnished water through the Cabarrus County Water <br />System, the owner of the property is to be notified that the <br />cross-connection must be discontinued within thirty-six (36) hours; <br />and, that a failure to remove or correct the cross-connection within <br />thirty-six (36) hours will result in the removal of his meter. If <br /> <br />'the correction is not made within the thirty-six (36) hour period, <br /> the meter is to be removed and is not to be reinstalled without <br /> payment of the standard cut on fee ($10.00) and a $25.00 <br /> penalty. <br /> <br /> J. Inspection of Plumbing <br /> <br /> The County reserves the right to make a meter reading(s) and <br /> inspect the plumbing on a customer's property.
