The ~m~rg~n~y services of Cabarrus County are dispatched through one central <br />location in the Cabarrus County Courthouse in Concord. The Cohnty pro~id~s an' <br />ambulance service, with a conveniently located satellite base morth of Concord. <br /> <br />The same is true for ~he Cabarrus County Rescue Squad. Fire protection is'provided <br />by the city of Concord, Cannon Mills Company, the Kannapolis Sanitary District~ and <br />various volunteer fire departments. Police protection is provided by the city of <br />Concord and the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Department including a special branch for <br />the urban area of Kannapolts. Also located within the Cabarrus portion of the growth <br />center is Cabarrus Memorial Hospital, a 467 bed facility located in north-central <br />Concord. <br /> <br /> Re~reation Departments for Cabarrus County and the city of Concord are very <br />active. Soon the growth center will be able to enjoy a regional park being prepared <br />by the Cabarrus County Recreation Department which will be located to the west of <br />Concord. A Master Plan for recreation in Cabarrus is presently being prepared. Two <br />local daily newspapers are available. Two libraries are located in the area: 'the <br />Cannon Memorial Library in Concord and the YMCA Library in Kannapolis. Cultural <br />activities include the Old Courthouse Theatre and the Kan-La-Con Concert Series. <br /> <br /> Rowan County area is very progressive towards growth with'residential, commerc- <br />ial, and industrial development throughout the growth center, One of the unique <br />qualities is how industries and local governments work together to provide th~ much <br />needed services demanded by the people. <br /> <br /> Many of the important services ensure an improved qoality of life exists in <br /> <br />the Rowan County area of the growth center. In this area, there are two municipal <br />volunteer fire departments, both having an 8 class fire rating, and a Sanitary <br />Service District Volunteer Fire Department with a 8A class fire rating along with <br />one county volunteer fire department with a 9A cla~s fire rating. Emergency rescue <br />and ambulance ~ervices are provided by a volunteer organization~called the Rowan <br />County Rescue Squad and a private company, C and M Ambulance Service, Incorporated. <br />Police protection in the growth center is provided by the town of China Grove Police <br /> <br /> <br />
