Deveiop local volunteer resources and enlist their participation and support <br /> of the program. <br /> <br /> a. Lion's clubs, diabetes association, Medical Society and Optometric <br /> <br /> Society will be used as supporting organizations and as aids in public <br /> information and education. <br /> <br /> b. Volunteers will be trained to augment clinic and other services. <br /> <br />5. Prepare reports as required by the N. C. Division of Health Services, Health <br /> Assurance Branch and routinely consult with the Black Mountain Regional <br /> Office staff on progress of the program. <br /> <br />6. Refer all persons found needing further evaluation to appropriate health <br /> care specialists. <br /> <br />7. Monitoring of persons diagnosed with diabetes or glaucoma to assure adequate <br /> control of their disease as indicated by referrin9 health care specialist. <br /> <br />METHODS <br /> <br />Objective 1 - Emphasis on education for the public shall be an ongoing concern. <br /> Materials concerned with symptoms and susceptability for Diabetes and <br /> Glaucoma will be available to the public. Education will be recommended <br /> for persons found with positive screening results for either disease and <br /> <br /> will motivate them to seek health care. Educational programs will also be <br /> presented to target groups, such as civic groups, church groups, industrial <br /> groups, etc. <br /> <br />Objective 2 - Publicity for screening services will include standard press <br /> releases and radio spot announcements. In addition, age specific publicity <br /> will consist of personal contacts with Council on Aging and meal sites <br /> through Cabarrus Senior Services, Inc.
