Serving Cabarrus and Ro~van Counties

June 29, 1979

Mr. Charles McGinnis
County Manager
Cabarrus County
Concord, N.C. 28025

Dear Mr. McGinnis,

Our second quarterly progress report is enclosed. Much has been
completed and much more put into motion, In the time between
this report and the next one many pub!ically visible actions will
Occur.

We are_meeting our projections in all areas except one. In Feb-
ruary .L requested attachments agreements from the owners of ex-
isting utility poles. I expected it to take £rom sixty to ninty
days to negoiate mutually acceptable contracts. Duke Power Com-
pany submitted an agreement on Harch 7th which we reviewed and
executed prior to the end of that month. We have not received
agreements from the other utility pole owners.

Construction cannot proceed without poles. Poles cannot be used
without a contract- and substantial "makeready" rearrangements.
In an effort to adhere to our schedule we have moved ahead and
begun inspecting poles for makeready: even without agreements.
We are now ready ~o request the pole owners to begin makeready
construction but canno5 due to the absence of agreements.

Our target date to begin actual cable construction is August first.
We can meet our target only if we receive agreements.

Yours truly,

52 McCACHERN BLVD. ,, P.O.
