Box 707 <br /> Concord, NC 28025 <br /> <br /> Dear Commissioners: <br /> <br /> Sheriff J. B. Roberts is requesting approval to submit three grant <br /> applications for LEAA funding. The. applications are to provide for a <br /> tower at the Sheriff's Department to raise the antenna height to approxi- <br /> mately 250 feet. This application would also. provide funds to move <br /> the old tower to Kannapolis in order to raise the antenna height there. <br /> The additional height at both locations is expected to provide better <br /> coverage for the entire cemmunications system in the county. The <br /> amount of the grant is $i4,400 in Federal money, $800 State money with <br /> the County matching $800 for a total of $16,000. <br /> <br />The second grant application is to provide camera equipment for mug <br />shots, crime scene photographs, and identification work. Tile amount <br />of the grant is $2,000 Federal: $111 State money, $111 County money <br />for a total grant application of $2,222. <br /> <br />The third grant spplication would provide three mobile radio units for <br />vehicles that presently do not have radios and two portable radios for <br />use in the Detective Division. The amount of. the grant is $5,850 Federal <br />money, $325 State money, and $325 County for a total grant request <br />of $6,500. <br /> <br />This request of authorization to apply for the graht does not commit <br />the county at this point. The Board of Commissioners would still <br />have to approve the implementation of the grant once the application <br />has been approved by LEAA. <br /> <br /> Charles D.
