The Board of County Commissioners held their regular meeting May 3, 1954 at 10:00 A. M.

<br /> J. Lee White, Chairman
<br />
<br /> Commissioners, Homer L.Fink, L. Bowman Barrier, P.E.Stallings and M. Smoot Lyles.
<br />
<br /> Motion by Homer L.Fink, Seconded by M. Smoot LYles that the State Highway andPublic Works
<br /> Commission be requested to take over and maintain the following roads:
<br />
<br /> No. 4 Township - California Avenue - Bridge improved.
<br />
<br /> No. 4 Township - Pine Street Extension - Bridge Across Creek.
<br />
<br /> No. 2 Township - The end of Dr. J.E. Nance's property, from Pitts School Rd. Black top .
<br />
<br /> No. l0 Township - Part of road from Midland to Mint Hill - Known as Black, McManus., want
<br /> an all weather road, gravel, tar and gravel or Hard surface.
<br />
<br /> No. 4 Township - Austin Avenue. - install culverts, improve ditches, and sand.
<br />
<br /> No. I Townsip - Oakley Drive and Alexander Avemue - Gravel surfaceing m~ paving.
<br />
<br /> Motion by M. Smoot Lyles, seconded by Homer L. Fink that Ray A. Cline,Tax Collector, be
<br />
<br />requested to advertise all property for delinquent taxes for ~he year 1943 as requi~ed by law.

<br /> The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus, Ngrth Carolina, met at the Courthouse
<br />
<br />in Concord, the usual place of meeting, in regular session at l0 o'clock A. M. on May 3, 1954.
<br />There were present: J. Lee White,Chairman, and Commissioners M. Smoot Lyles, L.Bowman Barrier, P.
<br />Ernest Stallings, and Homer Fink. Absent: None.

<br />Commissioner p.Ernest Stallings introduced the following resolution which was read:
<br />
<br /> RESOLUTION CALLING A SPECIAL BOND FJ.ECTION IN THE ROYAL OAKS SANITARY DI~CT
<br />WHEREAS, duly certified copies of a resolution entitled: "RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING $175.00 Water
<br />BONDS OF ROYAL OAKS SANITARY DISTRICT", and a resolution entitled : "RESOLUTION DIRECTING THE
<br />SECRETAEY OF THE SANITARY DISTRICT BOARD TO PUBLISH THE BOND RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING $175.00 WATER
<br />BONDS AND REQUESTING THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR THE COU~IT OF C~BARRUS TO CALL AN ELECTION UPO~
<br />
<br />THE ISSUING OF SAID BONDS", passed by the Sanitary District Board of Royal Oaks Sanitary District
<br />
<br />on May l, 1954, have been received by this Board; now, therefore,
<br />
<br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus:
<br />
<br /> Section 1. That a special bond election is hereby ordered to be held in Royal Oaks
<br />
<br />Sanitary District, in Cabarrus County, North Carolina, on Saturday, June 26, 1954, between 6:30A.M
<br />and 6:30 P.M., Eastern Standard Time, at which there shall be submitted to tbs qualified registere
<br />voters of said Royal Oaks ~anitary District the proposition of issuing not exceeding $175,000 Ware
<br />Bonds of said District for the purpose of PrOviding funds for acquiring the e~isting waterworks
<br />system in said District and enlarging and extending the system after acquisition, including the
<br />installation of larger mains and a new storage tank as set forth in a bond resolution adopted by
<br />the Sanitary District Board of Royal Oaks Sanitary District on the 1st day of May, 1954.
<br />
<br /> Section 2. That ~here shall be a new r~egistration of voters ~or said election, the books
<br />
<br />for such new registration to be open from 9 A. M. until sunset on eaCh day beginning Saturday,
<br />May 29, 1954, and closing Saturday, June 12, 1954. On each Saturday during such registration
<br />period said books shall be kept open at the polling place. Saturday, June 19, 1954, shall be
<br />Callenge Day.
