RESOLUTION CALLING A SPECIAL LOCAL TAX ELECTION TO INCREASE A PREVIOUSLY VOTED SUPPLh~k~TAL <br />TAX RATE FOR SCHOOL PURPOSES IN THE OONCCRD CITY ADMINISTRATIVE SCHOOL UNIT <br /> <br /> Whereas, the Graded School .Board of the City of Concord did, on thesecond day of December, <br />1957, present to this Board a petition adopted andduly endorsed by the Graded School.Board of <br />the City of Concord on the 25th day of November, 1957, requesting a special local tax election, <br />the purpose of which is to determine the will of the voters in the Concord ~ity Administrative <br />School Unit as to whether there shall be levied and collectedin addition to the presently levied <br />supplemental tax rate an additional maximum annual tax of twenty cents (.20) on the one hundred <br />dollars valuation of taxable property, real and personal, in the Concord City Administrative <br />School Unit to further supplement the current school expense funds from State and County allotment <br />and t hereby operate schools of a higher standard by further supplemtnting the items of expenditure <br />in the school budget; <br /> <br /> &nd Whereas, the aforesaid Petition was approved by the Board of County Commissioners for <br /> <br />the County of Cabarrus, North Carolina, on December 2, 1957 as appears in the minutes of said Boar <br /> <br /> And Whereas, it is the desire of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrusto <br />comply withthe General Statutes of North Carolina andcall a special local tax election for the <br />a£oresaid purpose and to conduct same in accordance with the provisions of the General Statutes <br />of North Carolina: <br /> <br /> IT IS, ~/qEREFORE, hereby ordered by the Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus, <br />North Carolina: <br /> <br /> 1. That a special local tax election be, and the same is hereby, alled to be held on <br /> <br />Tuesday, February ll, 1958, between the hours of 6:30 o'clock A. M. and 6:30 o'clock P. M. at <br />which time there will be submitted to the qualified voters of the Concord City Administrative <br />School Unit the question as to qhether there shall be levied and collected i addition t o the <br />pzessmtly levied supplemental tax an additional mazimum tax of twenty cents (.20) on the one <br />hundred dollars valuation of taxable property, real and personal, in the Conco~d City Administzati <br />School Unit to supplement the current school expense funds £rom State and County allotments. <br /> <br /> 2. That there shall be a new registration of voters for the purpose of said election, the <br />books to be open for the registration of voters from 9:00 o'clock A. I~l. until sunset on each <br />day, beginning Saturday January 18,1958, and closing Saturday, February l, 1958, On each Saturday <br />durong such period said registration books shall remain open at the polling places between the <br />hours set out above for the registration of voters. <br /> <br /> The Registrars shall attend the polling places with the registration books on Saturday <br />February 8, 1958 from the houm of 9:00 o'clock A. M. until the hour of 3.00 o'clock P M., when <br />and where the said books shall be open for the inspection of the electors of the precinct and <br />any of said electors shall be allowed to object to the same of any person appering on said books. <br /> <br /> 3. That a notice of said special local tax election and new registration shall be <br /> <br />publiched in the Concord Tribume on Janu~y 8, 1958, January 20, 1958 and February 3, 1958, <br /> <br />reading substantially as follows: <br /> <br /> "NOTICE OF SPECIAL LOCAL TAX ELECTION AND NEW REGISTRATION, CONCORD CITY ADMINISTRATIVE <br /> S~HOOL UNIT, TO FURTHE/R SUPPLEMENT CURR~.IWT SCHOOL EXPENSE FUNDS <br /> <br /> A Special Local Tax Election will be held in the Concord City Administrative School Unit <br /> <br /> of Cabarrus Oounty, North Carolina, between the hours of 6:30 o'clock A. M. and 6:30 o'clock P M <br /> <br /> <br />
