A special meeting of the Sanitary District Board of the <br /> i Royal Oaks Sanitary District, in Cabarrus County, North Carolina, <br /> was held at the Royal Oaks Sanitary District Fire Station, Florid~ <br /> <br /> Avenue, Kannapolis, North Carolina, within the boundaries of the <br /> said Sanitary District, on January 17, 1972, at 7:00 o'clock P.M. <br /> <br /> Present: J. Lloyd Miller, Chairman, Jackdale Caldwell, <br /> Jake Corriher, Members, and E. L. Poole, Member and Secretary. <br /> <br /> Absent: Jack E. Middleton, Member. <br /> <br /> Jackdale Caldwell introduced the following resolution which <br /> was read: <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br /> FOR THE COUNTY OF CABARRUS TO PROVIDE FOR STAGGERED <br /> TERMS FOR THE MEMBERS OF THE SANITARY DISTRICT BOARD <br /> OF THE ROYAL OAKS SANITARY DISTRICT <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Section 126 of Chapter 130 of the General Statutes <br /> of North Carolina provides that where a Sanitary District Board <br /> <br /> iconsists of five members, three such members may be elected for a <br /> four-year term at one biennial election and two members may be <br /> elected so that their terms will expire at an alternate biennial <br /> election; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Sanitary District Board of the Royal Oaks <br /> Sanitary District is of the opinion that it would be beneficial <br /> to the Sanitary District to stagger the terms of office of the <br /> members of the Sanitary District Board so that there would always <br /> be serving on the Sanitary District Board at least two members who <br /> have had prior experience; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Sanitary District Board of the Royal Oaks <br /> Sanitary District is of the opinion that the election of members <br /> to the Sanitary District Board for staggered terms would be in the <br /> best interest of the Sanitary District; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County <br /> Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus be and it is hereby <br /> requested to take such action as is required by Section 126 of <br /> <br />A~XANO~R& B.OWN Chapter 130 of the General Statutes of North Carolina so as to <br /> ATTORNEYS AT ~W <br /> <br />,,, ,O,,,,o,^L ,L,.. provide that the members of the Sanitary District Board of the <br />KANNAPOLIS. N. C. <br /> <br /> <br />
