The Board of County Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus, North Carolina, <br /> <br />met in.regular session at the County Courthouse in Concord, North C.arolina~ at · <br /> <br />9:30 o'clock A.M., on February 7, 1972. <br /> <br /> Present: Robert A. McClary <br /> C. Frank James <br /> Charles Gallimore <br /> John A. Hammett <br /> <br /> Absent: None <br /> <br /> The Royal Oaks Sanitary District requested that the Board adopt the following <br /> <br />resolution which was read: <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR STAGGERED TERMS <br /> FOR THE MEMBERS OF THE SANITARY DISTRICT <br /> BOARD OF THE ROYAL OAKS SANITARY DISTRICT <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus has <br /> <br />received from the Sanitary District Board of the Royal oaks Sanitary District a <br />resolution requesting that the Board of Commissioners adopt such resolution as <br />is required by Section 126 of Chapter 130 of the General Statutes of North Carolina <br />providing for the election of members of the Sanitary District Board of the Royal <br />Oaks Sanitary District for staggered four-year terms, so that at one general <br />election the terms of three members will expire and at the next general election <br />the terms of two members will expire; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus find that such <br /> <br />request is reasonable and in the best interest of the Royal Oaks Sanitary District <br />in that it would provide for a continuity of experience on the Sanitary District <br />Board of the Royal Oaks Sanitary District; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS FOR THE <br /> <br /> COUNTY OF CABARRUS: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the term of office of the members of the Royal Oaks <br /> <br />Sanitary District Board shall be for four years and until their successors <br />qualify; that the terms shall be staggered so that at the fimst biennial election <br />after the adoption of this resolution, and every four years thereafter, three <br />members of the Royal Oaks Sanitary District Board shall be for four years and until <br />their successors qualify; that the terms shall be staggered so that at the first <br />biennial election after the adoption of this resolution, and every four years <br />thereafter, three members of the Royal Oaks Sanitary District Board shall be <br />elected for four-year terms, and that at the first biennial election after the <br />adoption of this resolution, two members of the Royal Oaks Sanitary District <br />Board shall be elected for two-year terms and at the next biennial election and <br />every four years thereafter, two members of the Royal Oaks Sanitary District <br />Board shall be elected for four-year terms. <br /> <br /> <br />
