Tax Collector C. Ray McKinney's request that the cost of advert~s~ng <br /> <br />delinquent taxpayers' names be raised from $1350 to $2.00 each was approved, <br /> <br />on motion made by Gallimore, seconded by James and carried. <br /> <br /> Carl Kissiah and Ken Thompson appeared before the Board, to discuss <br /> <br />the traffic problem on a one-way street at Hartsell School. The Board <br />approved the hiring of someone for one hour each day to supervise traffic <br />during the half-hour each morning and afternoon that school children are <br />going to and from school. <br /> <br /> All members of the Board of County Commissioners, and Tax Supervisor <br /> <br />Terry L. Rowland, were sworn in as members of the Board of Equalization and <br />Review. This Board will begin hearing tax matters at their first meeting <br />set for 9:00 a.m., April 27, 1972. <br /> <br /> McClary made motion, seconded by Gallimore and carried, approving a <br /> <br />resolution setting a two per cent discount on taxes paid during the month <br />of July, and August 1 thru August 5, and a 1 1/2 per cent discount on taxes <br />paid from August 6-31. This resolution is recorded on Page ~ ~ and <br />becomes a part of these minutes. <br /> <br /> The audit of the office of Clerk of Court Estus White was made by <br /> <br />James B. White in the office of State auditor Henry L. Bridges, The audit <br />noted assets of $296,058.26 as of June 30, 1971. The report said the <br />Clerk's office has been "operated most efficiently" and said the ~lerk <br />had "departmentalized his staff in such a manner that the resultanl. <br />separation of employee duties and responsibilities have effected good <br />internal control." <br /> <br /> A request on a study of library needs was made by L. T. Hartsell~III, <br /> <br /> Secretary of the Library Board. This letter is recorded on Page <br /> <br /> and becomes a part of these minutes. <br /> <br /> Three invoices~-were presented by George Griffin, and approved by the <br /> <br /> Board for payment. One from Geprge Griffin for services rendered, and one <br /> from Laxton Construction Company, and one from Williams Office Supply for <br /> furniture for the Law Enforcement Building basement. <br /> <br /> The Board approved payment of a bill from Irvin and Irvin, in the <br /> <br /> amount of $5,047.69, for collection of delinquent Cabarrus County property <br /> <br /> taxe S · <br /> <br /> Commissioners congratulated County Civil Defense Director Flay Kiser <br /> <br /> on his successful completion of a special State Seminar on Emergency <br /> Preparedness, sponsored by the U. S. Office of Civil Defense~ This letter, <br /> from the Department of the Army, Office of Civil Defense, is recorded on <br /> Page \%~ of these minutes. <br /> <br /> Gallimore made motion, seconded by McClary and carried to accept the <br /> <br /> following road petitions: <br /> <br /> <br />
