AN ORDINANCE CREATING THE CABARRUS <br /> COUNTY COMMUNITY RELATIONS COMMISSION <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of Cabarrus County and <br /> <br />the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the City of Concord desire to promote <br />a wholesome climate of human relations among their citizens, between the <br />races, and amopg those of varying economic status; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, prejudice and discrimination against any individual <br /> <br />or group because of race, color, creed, national origin, ancestry, economic <br />or educational status are harmful to democracy, to the preservation of a <br />wholesome climate of human relations, and to the public health, safety <br />and welfare of Cabarrus County, the City of Concord, and the inhabitants <br />thereof; <br /> <br /> .NOW, THEREFORE, in fulfillment of the purposes and provisions <br /> <br />of the Constitutions of the United States of America and'the State of <br />North Carolina and under the authority of Chapter 1207 of the 1971 Session <br />Laws of North Carolina, BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of <br />Cabarrus County and the Aldermen of the City of Concord as follows: <br /> <br /> Section 1. There is hereby created a community relations <br /> <br /> commission to be known as the "Cabarrus County Community Relations Commission". <br /> The Commission shall consist of ten members, four of whom are to be appointed <br /> by the Mayor and the Board of Aldermen from the residents of the City of <br /> Concord and the one-mile perimeter thereof; six to be appointed by the <br /> Board of Commissioners of Cabarrus County, four of whom shall be residents <br /> of Township No. 4, and two of whom shall be residents of any area of <br /> Cabarrus County other than the City of Concord and its one-mile perimeter <br /> and Township No. 4.
