Motion seconded <br /> <br />by Commissioner Sammett and vote carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> ~qtEREAS, the 1975 General Assembly appropriated State funds to increase <br /> <br /> the maximum allowable note for domiciliary care in homes for the aged by $130.00 <br /> <br /> per month; <br /> <br /> AND, krHEREAS, the county budgets were submitted and approved prior to any <br /> <br /> knowledge of this legislative action; <br /> <br /> BE IT THEREFORE, RESOLVED, that the Association of County Directors urge the <br /> <br /> North Carolina Association of County Commissioners to request the necessary funds <br /> be provided by the State for implementation of this increase with no additional <br /> cost to the counties for 1975-76. <br /> <br /> Upon motion of Commissioner Milloway, seconded by Commissioner Hammett and carried, <br /> <br />the Department of Social Services is the Cabarrus County Agency to handle maternity and <br /> <br />child support. <br /> <br /> At 11:00 a.m. the bids for the interior graphics of the new Courthouse was opened and <br /> <br />read. <br /> <br /> Andco $10,277.48 <br /> B.F.G. Sales Co. $15,431.14 <br /> Sign Art, Inc. $6,984.00 <br /> <br />Commissioner Hinson made motion to award the bid to the low bidder, Sign Art, Inc., provided <br />the bid is in proper order. Motion seconded by Commissioner Hammett and vote unanimously <br />carried. <br /> <br /> C. C. McBryde and T. L. Patterson, Department of Transportation, presented the proposed <br /> <br />Secondary Road Program for the 1975-76 fiscal year. The Board felt that the citizens of <br />Cabarrus County would benefit more with the paving of SR 2626 rather that SR 2457 since <br />SR 2457 continues into Rowan and Stanly Counties. Commissioner Hammett made a motion to <br />approve the improving of SR 1300 and SR 1447 and to authorize Chairman Hawfield to write a <br />letter to Keith Almond, Secondary Roads Councilman, requesting that SR 2457 be replaced <br />by SR 2626 in the Secondary Roads Program for 1975-76. Motion seconded by Commissioner McClary <br />and vote unanimously carried. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Hammett made motion to set up Secondary Road Funds to improve 0.25 mile of <br /> <br />White Street off Brown Mill Road at traffic light. Motion seconded by Commissioner Hinson and <br /> <br />vote carried. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Hinson made motion to approve the abandonments of SR 1609, SR 1697, SR 1696, <br /> <br />SR 1695, SR 1693, SR 1694, and SR 1692 that lies north of West "A" Street. Motion seconded by <br />Commissioner Milloway and vote carried. <br /> <br /> George Griffin, Architect, appeared and discussed the landscaping for the new Courthouse <br /> <br />and the entire block. It was decided that the planters on the inside of the new Courthouse <br />would be handled by Nancy T~mpleman and the building committee. Gary Morgan of J. N. Pease <br />Associates will briefly sketch the landscaping for the entire block and work with the building <br />committe~on the in depth detail. After a discussion of the ways the old Courthouse could be <br />demolished, Commissioner Hammett made a motion to'allow George Griffin to obtain the price for <br />demolition of enough of the old Courthouse to complete the new one.
