Kim~yHorn had completed Phase I of the Mass Transportation Study. If the study has a <br />little update work done each year, it would be considered a valid study for five to seven <br />years. Commissioner Cook made motion that Kimt~y Horn be authorized to continue the Mass <br />Transportation Study. Motion seconded by Commissioner Hammett and vote unanimously carried. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Milloway made motion to authorize architect George Griffin to proceed <br /> <br />with final plans for courthouse parking lot as meets the approval of the building committee <br />and authorize the advertisment for bids. Commissioner Cook seconded the motion and vote <br />carried. <br /> <br /> Upon motion of Commissioner McClary, seconded by Commissioner Hammett and carried, <br /> <br />the City of Concord will be offered a 30-foot radius at the corner of Corban A~nue and <br /> <br />Church Street instead of the 50-foot radius requested. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Hammett made motion to authorize architect George Griffin to advertise <br /> <br />for bids for the renovation of the old health department building. Motion seconded by <br /> <br />Commissioner McClary and vote carried. <br /> <br /> The advantages and cost of new roofs on the three county buildings located at the <br /> <br />fairgrounds versus the repair of the slate roofs were discussed. Commissioner Milloway <br />made motion to authorize architect George Griffin to advertise for bids for reroofing at <br />the three buildings with 25-year asphalt shingles. Motion seconded by Commissioner Hammett <br />and vote carried. <br /> <br /> Honeywell representative Frank Johnson presented a maintenance program proposal for <br /> <br />mechanical equipment for the courthouse, law enforcement, mental health, and public health <br />buildings. Commissioner Hammett made motion to accept the contract for maintenance of the <br />four county buildings and authorize the County Manager to sign the contract effective <br />October 15, 1976. Motion seconded by Commissioner Milloway and vote carried. <br /> <br /> Upon motion of Commissioner Milloway, seconded by Commissioner Cook, and carried, the <br /> <br />following resolutions were adopted: <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION-WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of Cabarrus County <br /> <br /> has received a petition from fifteen percent (15%) of the resident freeholders <br /> living in an area lying outside the corporate limits of any city or town <br /> which area is described hereinafter and is designed in said petition as Odell <br /> Fire District; and whereas, the Tax Supervisor of Cabarrus County has certified <br /> that the petition is executed by 15% of the resident freeholders living in <br /> the area described; and whereas, the Board of Commissioners of Cabarrus County <br /> has consulted with the Cabarrus County Board of Elections <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that under the provisions of G. S. 69-25.2 <br /> <br /> an election be held on the llth day of December, 1976, as by law provided <br /> to submit to the qualified voters in the area hereinafter described the <br /> question of levying and collecting a special tax on all taxable property in <br /> said district, not exceeding 15¢ of the $100.00 valuation of property, for <br /> the purpose of providing fire protection in said district.
