171 UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hammett, seconded by Commis- sioner Milloway and carried unanimously, a public hearing for the purpose of renaming Linker Road will be held August 10, 1978 at 10:00 A. M. Chairman Hawfield asked if anyone would like to speak on the renaming of Woodberry Drive to Sheridan Drive. UPON MOTION of Commissioner Milloway, seconded by Commis- sioner Cook and carried unanimously, the road name. change from Woodberry Drive to Sheridan Drive was approved. Commissioner McClary suggested that the Kannapolis Police Department and the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Department report damaged road signs to the Cabarrus County Planning Department. Mrs. Gary McDonald presented a petition for a zoning · restriction code to the Board. Chairman Hawfield explained to Mrs. McDonald that at this time Cabarrus County does not have a Zoning Ordinance. UPON MOTION of Commissioner Milloway, seconded by Commis- sioner Cook and carried unanimously, procedures for obtaining a Zoning Ordinance were adopted. Chairman Hawfield appointed Commissioner Cook and Commissioner Milloway to meet with the Planning Board in order to implement this motion. The Board discussed the need for a Zoning Ordinance and a Subdivision Ordinance for Cabarrus County and stressed the importance of obtaining the Subdivision Ordinance from the Planning Depart- ment as soon as possible. The Board discussed an interest in hiring a county planner to head both the planning and community development departments. UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hammett, seconded by Commis- sioner Cook and unanimously carried, the following budget amendment was approved: GENERAL FUND INCREASE REVENUE 10-348-35 Fuel Crisis Program $ 6,300.00 INCREASE EXPENSE 10-611- 16 Fuel Crisis Program $ 6,300.00 To provide for state grant to Social Service for emergency fuel relief crisis.
