B. <br />Roberts to be executed between the County and Dr. George C. Monroe, III, for <br />services rendered by Dr. Monroe as jail physician to the inmates of the <br />Cabarrus County jail facility. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Milloway, seconded by Commissioner Lentz and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved by resolution the study of the <br />911 Emergency Telephone Number concept for Cabarrus County and authorized the <br />establishment of the following study committee to formulate plans for the <br />development of a 911 system in the county. <br /> <br /> 911 IMPLEMENTATION COMMITTEE <br />1. No <br />action was taken.by the Board regarding this request. <br /> Mr. Charles McGinnis, County Manager, reported that the snack bar located <br />in the basement of the County Courthouse was no longer in operation and <br />recommended that vending.machines containing such items as soft drinks, coffee, <br />snacks, and cigarettes be placed in the basement area. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Bonds and <br />unanimously carried, the Board authorized the County Manager to proceed with <br />the placement of vending machines in the basement'of the County Courthouse if <br />no County money is required and if there is no long term commitment by the <br />Board for the use of the machines. <br /> ~ UPON MOTION of Commissioner Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Allen and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved a United Way Payroll Deduction Plan to <br />be available to all County employees on a voluntary basis. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Milloway, seconded by Commissioner Lentz and <br />unanimously carried, the Board authorized Chairman Cook to issue a proclamation <br />in honor of a worthy Kannapolis citizen when the request is received from the <br />Pentagon. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Allen and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved an amendment for the Health Department <br />budget to accept additional Federal funds in the amount of $6,270.00 for the <br />Childhood Lead Poisoning Control Program to provide funds for renovating <br />special equipment on long term loan from the United StateS. Public Health Service <br />and funds to account for the ten percent (10%) increase in the pay plan. <br /> UPON MOTION of Chairman Cook, seconded by Commissioner Milloway and <br /> unanimously carried, the Board awarded th~ bid for the Lead Paint Analyzer to <br /> the sole bidder, Princeton Gamma-Tech, in the amount of $6,995.00. <br /> <br /> <br />
